Bathroom doors typically falling hinges (hinges with a buffering closing function) for the following primary reasons:
1. To cope with humid environments, prevent rusting and deformation
Material Advantages: Given that bathrooms are often exposed to high humidity, ordinary carbon steel hinges are prone to rusting, which can lead to clunky opening and closing, abnormal noises, and even breakage. Falling hinges, on the other hand, are typically made of stainless steel (such as Type 304 or 316) or aluminum alloy, with surfaces treated to resist corrosion. This effectively protects against moisture erosion, thereby extending their lifespan.
Structural stability: The falling hinge, designed with thickened steel and a triangular base, boasts enhanced load-bearing capacity (up to 15-30kg), capable of supporting heavy solid wood or glass doors, thus preventing door sagging after prolonged use.
2. Buffer and closing function, enhancing safety and silence
Anti-pinch design: The falling hinge is equipped with a hydraulic buffer device, which automatically slows down the closing door, preventing the loud "bang" sound that might startle family members. This design is especially suitable for households with elderly or young members. For instance, the 304 stainless steel hydraulic damping hinge can achieve a small-angle buffering of 10°, preventing accidental opening and potential hand pinching.
Reduce metal fatigue: The buffering function reduces the impact force of direct collisions between the door and the cabinet, thereby reducing metal fatigue and making the hinge more durable in scenarios where it is frequently opened and closed (such as bathroom doors that are used dozens of times daily).
3. Adapt to the design of sunken shower rooms, optimize drainage and splash prevention
In conjunction with the sunken structure: Modern bathrooms often adopt a sunken shower design, which guides water flow to the floor drain through a height difference on the ground (about 1.5-2.5cm) to reduce overflow. The falling hinge seamlessly integrates with this design, ensuring that the door fits tightly to the ground when closed, preventing water from seeping through gaps.
Barrier-free access: The falling hinges allow for easy lifting and disassembly of the door, facilitating cleaning of the floor or maintenance of pipelines. At the same time, they eliminate the risk of tripping over traditional water bars, enhancing safety during use.
4. Meet personalized needs and enhance aesthetics and practicality
Concealed installation: The falling hinge can be hidden between the door and the cabinet, reducing visual interference and making the bathroom overall more concise and beautiful.
Adjusting function: Some high-end models support three-dimensional adjustment (fine adjustment in up-down, left-right, and front-back directions), which can correct installation errors, ensure the door body is horizontal and vertical, and enhance sealing performance and aesthetics.
